We had a chance to sit down with undefeated Bellator lightweight champ, Michael Chandler at this years E3 in Los Angeles, CA to play the upcoming “Bellator Onslaught” title from 345 Games. Chandler spoke briefly on the games accuracy of attributes, graphics, and creative finishes which he’s come to enjoy.
Interesting fact about the new Bellator video game title is that the former poster boy of the organization, Eddie Alvarez will not be included in the game according to 345, giving more credence to the rumors of defection by the former champ. The likely move does not bother the current champ however, as he’ll be looking to fight tourney winner and judo specialist, Rick Hawn in his first official title defense later this year. As for the question of the best lightweight in the world, Chandler would of course like to compete against the top fighters, but plans to continue proving himself in the Bellator promotions exclusively.
The game, unlike it’s current MMA competing titles, is more of an arcade style simulator, that can be learned on first play. In a new spin on the MMA genre, each fighter will contain his own finisher special that may be performed on a dazed opponent. Keep a look out for the titles expected release in late July, as a $15 downloadable game for both PS3 and Xbox 360. The title will start off with limited characters and expand slowly through add-on packs, à la carte style .
