While Benson Henderson made a name for himself by competing in the lightweight ranks, his first Bellator MMA bout will take place at welterweight.

According to a report by ESPN, Henderson will challenge Andrey Koreshkov for the Bellator welterweight title at Bellator 153. The event is set to take place from Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on April 22.

As usual, Bellator main cards air live on Spike TV.

Henderson (23-5) ended his run with the UFC last November, besting Jorge Masvidal. He finished with a record of 11-3, including capturing the UFC lightweight title. During his time inside the Octagon, the MMA Lab fighter defeated the likes of Frankie Edgar, Josh Thomson, Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez.

For Koreshkov (18-1), this will be his first title defense and biggest bout to date. The 25-year-old from Russia captured the Bellator title with a decision victory over Douglas Lima last July.
