WEC vet Eric Schambari, is coming back full force after his year off recovering from a life-threatening illness. Bellator just announced today that Schambari will be Bellator’s first middleweight participant for the organization’s season two tournament.

This season will begin in April, where the tournaments determine who will challenge the first season winners.

“I watched Bellator last season and I just think it’s a great organization with some really, really talented and exciting fighters,” Schambari stated today. “In this business, it’s all about finding the best possible competition, and Bellator has some of the best in the world.”

After his serious allergic reaction to a medication kept Schambari out of the sport for a year, he came back strong with his current four-fight win streak, more than half of which were from first-round stoppages.

“Eric is a very talented middleweight with what’s commonly referred to as freak-strength,” Bellator founder and CEO Bjorn Rebney stated earlier today. “Given who our middleweight champion is (Hector Lombard), that’s a vital attribute to possess. On top of that, the determination Eric’s shown during his comeback from a serious injury is inspirational and shows the kind of heart he has.”

This season’s shows will be televised on Fox Sports Net and it’s regional sports affiliates.
