To say that former UFC title challenger Michael McDonald wrecked former Bellator champ Eduardo Dantas at Bellator 202 would be an understatement. “Utterly destroyed” would be more apt.

It took all of 58 seconds for McDonald to drop the fearsome Brazilian striker with a punch, and swarm him with fists until he was slumped unconscious on the canvas. But in the act of getting dropped, Dantas also suffered a broken ankle – which was visibly twisted and hanging limp on the slow-motion replay. Wowsers.

I don’t know where this puts McDonald in the Bellator food chain, but this was his second fight with the organization, and he looked like the bantamweight killer of old.

That was the co-main event of Bellator 202. The main event saw featherweight champ Julia Budd dominate and beat up challenger Taita Nogueira pretty soundly. It didn’t matter if it was on the feet or on the ground, Budd was smashing her nonstop, and the TKO came in the third.

There’s another Bellator tonight. Gird your loins.
