Bellator 191 on Friday was all about second chances, and UFC vets Michael McDonald and Valerie Letourneau certainly made the most of them.

Exiting the UFC after a less-than-stellar stint as professional punching bag to stars like Joanna JÄ™drzejczyk and Joanna Calderwood, Letourneau came into the Bellator cage seeking an opponent willing to let her flex her kickboxing muscle – and that’s ultimately what Kate Jackson did. Their time on the ground was brief, and not altogether unfavorable to Letourneau either, but in the end it was all about the superior striker finally showing off her skills in the cage and notching a decision.

McDonald was a top-level fighter when the UFC absorbed the WEC, but injuries plagued him, and when he finally returned to the Octagon, he never found the success he seemingly deserved. But Bellator suits him nicely – as evidenced by his dominant grappling performance against Peter Ligier in the Bellator 191 main event. At one point in Round 2, McDonald broke his own hand punching Ligier in the dome, but that only forced McDonald to press the issue on the ground. McDonald took the well-earned decision when time ran out.
