Andrey Koreshkov was Bellator’s welterweight champ for a short spell, has lost only to Ben Askren and Doug Lima in the entirety of his lengthy MMA career, and is an all-around badass who will likely fight for the belt again. Chidi Njokuani hasn’t lost yet in four Bellator appearances, but this bout – the main event of Bellator 182 – will be a real test.
Njokuani comes out firing off leg-kicks, and given his lankiness, he’s scoring with them. The Russian responds by taking him down, and when Njokuani works his way back upright, Koreshkov nails him with a spinning backfist, a flying knee and another takedown. Njokuani gets up, gets taken down again, and the ensuing storm of strikes from above has him wilting, and the ref eventually jumping in.
