Patricio “Pitbull” Freire tapped out featherweight champ Daniel Straus at Bellator 178 last night, and if you’re keeping score, that makes three wins for Pitbull and one for Straus in their “best out of ten” series.
But seriously, this was the fourth time these guys fought, so it wasn’t like there would be many surprises in store.
Since he shattered his hand in their previous meeting, Straus didn’t seem to want to throw knuckles with Pitbull too much this time around – which is problematic, because the Brazilian is an explosive striker and you need to make him worry about more than just wrestling. The first round was close, but in the second, Straus ducked his head and went for a takedown and Pitbull, a jiu-jitsu black belt, simply guillotined him.
The official time of the tap was 37 seconds into Round 2.
So… when are they fighting again?
