You can always count on Derek Campos as a fighter willing to give a chunk of himself in order to take a piece out of his opponent, and as one half of the opening bout for the Bellator 170 main card, Campos lived up that expectation against Derek Anderson.

Cut from a similar cloth, Anderson came out ready to bang – and for just about the entire first round, that’s what these men did, nailing each other with strikes and very content to duke it out on the feet. Campos took the round with a killer left that had Anderson seeing stars, and he no doubt took Round 2 with an uppercut that made Anderson momentarily forget what century it was.

Of course, it’s not a Campos fight until he lets his opponent have a slice of well-being, so when Anderson clobbered him with a kick to the body and threatened him with a guillotine, we were right where we needed to be. Campos escaped and wound up on top, but time ran out before anyone could do anything definitive, and the judges took over.
