Bellator MMA enters 2015 with momentum, having enjoyed their greatest success with Bellator 133 last month in California.
That event, where new president Scott Coker unveiled his new look for the promotion, scored a knockout for both Bellator MMA and SPIKE TV, with viewership peaking at around two million.
Their first event of the year, Bellator 134, is set for February 27 in Connecticut.
The event will feature a “British Invasion” theme, with two fighters from the United Kingdom vying for Bellator titles: Paul Daley, who will fight Douglas Lima for the Bellator Welterweight Championship in the main event; and Liam McGeary, who will fight Emanuel Newton for the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship in the co-main event.
Backing up the title fights are two feature bouts with some familiar names to MMA fans.
English heavyweight James Thompson, who is enjoying a six-bout unbeaten streak, will face American Bobby Lashley in a rematch of their 2012 bout. Lashley has won five straight since his 2012 loss to Thompson.
Also of England, Linton Vassell, who recently challenged for the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship, will face UFC/PRIDE veteran Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou in the second bout of the night.
English karate/kickboxing standout Michael Page, who is continuing his transition into MMA, will also appear on the card, fighting Curtis Milender in a welterweight bout.
Bellator MMA has announced on their official site that a press conference for Bellator 134 will be held January 7 in England.
In attendance will be the five Britons to be featured at Bellator 134: Daley, McGeary, Thompson, Vassell, and Page. The conference will take place at Channel Five Studios in London at 11 am.
