If you had not heard, Antonio “Lil Nog” Rogerio has been forced out of his UFC 161 fight against former champ Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, due to a back injury suffered in training. As the UFC scrambles to find a replacement with less than two weeks (June 15), “The Oregon Gangster” once again throws his name in the hat.
Here’s what Chael Sonnen had to say about a match-up via Twitter:
@ShogunRua I HEAR BRAZILIAN CHICKEN IS OFF THE MENU. AMERICAN GANGSTER IS STILL AVAILABLE IF YOU WANT TO SEND YOUR WAITRESS OVER.

The match would make sense as both are coming off a loss. Shogun’s last appearance in Dec. 2012 ended with a unanimous decision loss to Alexander Gustafsson, while Sonnen suffered a first round beating at the hands and elbows of current champ Jon Jones.
It would seem that with Sonnen’s original targeted opponent, Wanderlei Silva delaying a UFC return for likely injury recovery, Sonnen would rather get in the cage sooner than later. Wonder if he’s concerned with the NSAC’s consideration of changing the allowed T/E ratios?
