Not only did Uriah Hall’s highly anticipated bout with fellow striker John Howard fail to deliver the fireworks fans were hoping for, the favoured TUF 17 Finalist also came up short and lost by split decision. Although Hall certainly hasn’t been blown out of the Octagon in his first two official fights, he hasn’t won yet either.
Of course, it wasn’t long ago when fans, pundits and Dana White were heaping praise on the middleweight for his ridiculously violent and successful run on TUF 17. So what’s the UFC boss man’s take on Hall now? Well. speaking after last night’s UFC FN 26 card, White had this to say about Hall (comments thanks to MMA Junkie.com):
“If I could take Brad Pickett’s brain and heart and put it inside Uriah Hall’s body, holy s–t there would be some damage done,” White said. “Uriah Hall has all the physical attributes to be amazing. He’s got speed. He’s got power. He’s just unbelievable. He doesn’t have what it mentally takes to fight here. That was a high-five competition.
“Listen, you’re a nice guy. I get it. We’re not here to f—ing high five. We’re not here to shake hands. You do all that s–t when the fight’s over. You’re here to fight.”
If you didn’t see last night’s card, Pickett was blasted multiple times by Michael McDonald early in their bout, but the rugged bantamweight kept coming. McDonald ended up winning the fight though by triangle-choke.
So, when asked if this means Hall’s being sent to the minor league circuit, White reportedly said he doesn’t know yet and has to think about it. After seeing what Hall did during TUF 17, one would think they’ll give him one more shot, but you never know.
