Just as vacating Strikeforce middleweight champ Jake Shields was given a title shot after one victory in the UFC, Dana White says that vacating Bellator champ Hector Lombard may do the same. When questioned by MMAFighting about a possible meet between UFC champ Anderson Silva and the former Bellator champ, White had this to say.
“Yeah, it would make sense. The guy has won, I think it’s 25 fights in a row or something like that. If he comes right into the UFC, main events and knocks out Stann, it makes sense.”
Lombard will need to first get past a high caliber opponent in former WEC champion Brian Stann at UFC on Fox 4, (Aug 4th) in order to receive the title shot. Not only that, ‘The Spider,’ will need to once again overcome the grappling grind of Chael Sonnen at UFC 146 in Las Vegas, NV (May 26) to make the purposed match-up.
With both men seeming incapable of losing, the bout in the eyes of the odds-makerd has already been solidified.
Feel free to voice your thoughts on the possibility of the match-up and the outcome should the two come face-to-face in the octagon.
