Did the Axe Murderer just get the Axe? Sometimes you got to know when to push and when to fold. From the sound of Dana White’s recent comments, Wanderlei Silva may have just busted, pushing too hard for the big payday against Chael Sonnen.
“[Silva] said he won’t fight him unless he gets PPV [points] so I guess he’s gonna retire,” White wrote via text message to Ariel Helwani.”
Dana White’s offer to Silva was for a co-main slot against Sonnen on Nov. 16 at UFC 167 in Las Vegas. The likely main reason that White said no way is that Georges St-Pierre is headlining the card and he has stated in the past that he is now there largest pay-per-view draw. Handing over a chunk of their main income to St-Pierre is understandable, but for White, the payout is unjustified in Silva’s case.
