Following UFC 153, Dana White could not help but boast about pound-for-pound great Anderson Silva. Outside of that, White was also questioned on former Dream, Strikeforce and K-1 champion Alistair Overeem’s return. It seems he’s still planned as next in line for the winner of UFC 155’s Dos Santos vs. Velasquez bout.
“Yes, that’s what we’re thinking,” White said to Ariel Helwani in an interview after UFC 153 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on Saturday night. “We’ll see how this thing plays out and what happens. Nothing is done. Nothing is etched in stone, but that’s what I’d like to see happen.”
Overeem was originally set to fight Junior dos Santos earlier in the year, but after a suspicious test revealed Overeem with elevated T/E levels, Overeem had been disallowed from applying for licensing for six months – which is now ending in late Dec.
With Dos Santos and Velasquez II taking place Dec. 29 in Las Vegas, we can expect a likely title show as early as March or April.
