Urijah Faber, (22-3) coming off his WEC 46 Victory over Raphael Assuncao via rear naked choke in the 3rd round, will get his title shot against Jose Aldo (16-1). It has been officially announced by WEC general manager Reed Harris who confirmed the matchup at the WEC 46 post-fight press conference.
“I’m ready to get that belt,” Faber said. “We got a great champion right now. Jose Aldo. He’s a phenom. He’s both talented and creative but I’d love to go in there and get that belt.”
Jose Aldo who barely speaks English, but is learning, responded to Fabers comment in his best English:
“I respect Urijah, but no one will take my belt.”
“I gotta bring my A-game,” Faber said. “He’s a tough guy, but in my mind, that’s my belt.” This will be an amazing bout, Faber is relentless and unforgiving, always pushing a 100 mph fight from start to finish – but Aldo is no walk in the park, for Faber this will be a hard fight to call.
