Only a day after he found out that former bantamweight champ Brian Bowles would not be fighting at WEC 52’s November 11th card, a replacement was found. It looks as if Joseph Benavidez will be taking Bowles place in the upcoming event against Wagnney Fabiano.
Bowles’ replacement was first reported on Versus.com, but then was later confirmed by the website MMA Weekly.
Bowles was forced to drop out from the bout after he suffered a broken foot during a sparring session. His drop was first reported yesterday and will most likely keep him out until early next year.
This will be Benavidez’s first fight back since trying to take the belt away from current bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz in August at WEC 50. This made his second loss via decision both by Cruz. Benavidez currently holds a 12-2 pro record.
