If you missed Saturday nights UFC on Fuel 7 headline fight, Barao vs. McDonald, you missed two and three ranked bantamweights go to war. Michael McDonald (15-2) may have came up short in the fourth, as he was defeated via arm triangle, however he did show that he could not only stand with a top veteran at the young age of 22, but that he could of been the youngest champion to date.
Barao’s strength and experience proved to be the difference, as he was able to overcome big shots landed early in the fight and comeback with a submission finish. Following the win, Barao called out current champ Dominick Cruz, wishing him a speedy recovery. Cruz later responded “I thank you for the wishes, and I will be back in there soon.“ White has suggested the match to be ready for summer, but time will tell if the champ will in fact be 100 percent, in time.
