For over a decade my local beat involved covered New Jersey-based MMA shows of all levels, and I got to see all of Chris Weidman’s minor league fights from cageside. He was quite the unstoppable force then – so much so that his UFC debut seemed inevitable. As did his fighting for the belt. As did his winning the belt.
But one thing that did not seem inevitable was his defeats, first at the hands of Luke Rockhold, then at the hands (or knee) of Yoel Romero. They happened though, and so now, at Saturday’s UFC 210, Weidman will try to get back on track with a co-main event bout against Gegard Mousasi. That’s a tough fight for both men, and it’s hard to root for one over the other because they’re both likable dudes.
Anyway, here’s UK announcing team Dan Hardy and John Gooden breaking down the fight.
