Paige Van Zant has been doing well for herself since coming to the Octagon, defeating all comers while maintaining that million-dollar smile, and now she’s headlining her very own UFC event opposite Rose Namajunas.
But coach Urijah Faber is perhaps saying a little too much about his ward, and his words are writing checks PVZ can’t cash.
As per ESPN:
In her mind, she’s ready for [champion] Joanna Jedrzejczyk, which is the important thing. The one thing I’d worry about is Jedrzejczyk has had 80 fights as a Muay Thai practitioner. So, as one of VanZant’s mentors and teammates [at Faber’s Team Alpha Male camp in Sacramento], I’d like to see her get more experience before she fights for the strap.
Bro, I know you threw in that caveat about PVZ getting more fights before facing the champ, but saying she thinks she’s ready is more than enough for UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby and Jedrzejczyk to latch onto, and then that fight will be made. And you know what? VanZant’s million-dollar smile will decrease in value because of a bunch of broken teeth.
