The UFC just announced that have signed Czech Republic native, and UK-based heavyweight, Karlos Vemola, for a multi-fight deal. He is expected to make his debut at UFC 116 against H.I.T. Squad fighter Jon Madsen.
The news was first reported today by Fighters Only and later confirmed by sources close to the event, who stated both fighters have verbally agreed to the bout and are expected to sign an agreement soon.
Vemola, who is nicknamed “The Terminator,” fights out of London with the Shootfighters team, who also house UFC vets Mostapha Al Turk and John Hathaway. Vemola is considered a vet with the UK-based Cage Fighters Championship. He has seven career victories, all of which have come from first-round stoppages, with four wins via rear-naked choke. And according to a Fighters Only report, Vemola has a long-going grudge against UFC heavyweight James Mcsweeney, who accused him of using steroids.
UFC 116 is expected to take place on July 3rd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, with a headlining match between current UFC heavyweight titleholder Brock Lesnar against interim title winner, Shane Carwin.
The fight between Vemola and Madsen will be featured on the non-televised portion of the event.
