The rumor mill continues to churn as a source close to the situation tells MMAJunkie.com that the rumored bout between former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva is not happening.
Not official at this time but, Bloodyelbow radio reported last night that Cain Velasquez is likely fighting Frank Mir instead at UFC on Fox 3 on May 5th – Cinco de Mayo.
Though Silva’s management insists that Antonio will be making his UFC debut in April, still no opponent has been made official at this time.
Silva, best known for his destruction of former pound-for-pound heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko, did suffer a loss in his last outing against Daniel Cormier in the semi-finals of Strikeforce’s heavyweight tournament. The bout would be the end of an impressive 10 fight win-steak in mixed martial arts.
