Tyson Griffin has just been reported as a replacement for Joe Stevenson in his bout against Takanori Gomi on UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko on August 1st. The report from Dave Meltzer reads that Griffin’s replacement of Stevenson was due to a knee injury suffered during practice.
This would give Griffin around 60 days for training camp. Notably, the average fighter trains 90 days in camp for a bout. Griffin should be in shape though, as he is just coming off a split decision loss to Evan Dunham at UFC 115 on June 12.
There is no official word from the UFC as of yet on the rumor, but we will keep you posted as news comes out from the UFC.
