UFC president Dana White believes without a shadow of a doubt that middleweight contender Vitor Belfort will compete clean from now on.
Belfort, who failed a drug test earlier this year for having elevated levels of testosterone in his system, is expected to appear in front of the Nevada Athletic Commission today to find out if he will receive his fight license.
If “The Phenom” is cleared, the UFC will likely go ahead with plans of Belfort vs. Chris Weidman for the middleweight title later this year.
“If Vitor gets licensed, from now until the fight with Weidman, they’re going to Olympic-style test him like crazy,” said White, in an interview with UFC.com. “If he’s on anything, if he does anything, he’ll get caught.
“When he fights Chris Weidman, he’ll be 100-percent clean.”
You can watch the NAC hearing on UFC Fight Pass at 1 p.m. ET. Chael Sonnen is also on the list of 35 items following his two failed drug tests.
