UFC on Fuel TV: Silva vs. Stann – Main Card Predictions

Dong Hyun “Stun Gun” Kim(16-2-1-1)) vs. Siyar “The Great” Bahadurzada(21-4-1)

This is the classic striker-versus-grappler match with Kim most likely using his wrestling to try to win the match, and Bahadurzada looking for the knockout. In both of their last fights, they took on Paulo Thiago, where Kim won a decision but Bahadurzada won by first-round knockout. At this point Bahadurzada has the momentum, and will earn another knockout in the first round.

Mizuto Hirota(14-5-1) vs. Rani Yahya(17-7-0)

Hirota is coming off a loss, but that was at lightweight – a weight class above where he naturally fights. Most of Yahya’s losses have come from people that can out-grapple him, and the same goes for Hirota. The problem for Hirota is that Yahya is the superior grappler who will take a win in this fight. Yahya by decision.

Yushin “Thuner” Okami (28-7-0) vs. Hector “Lighting” Lombard(32-3-1-1)

This is one of the most anticipated bouts of the card, because it will show who has what it takes to make it back to the top. Okami fought for the title but was outclassed by Anderson Silva, and subsequently knocked out by Tim Boestch. All Lombard had to do was beat Boetsch to get his title shot, but he lost a lackluster decision (he claims to have been injured going into the bout). In this fight, it will be about whether or not Okami can take Lombard down and keep him down, but with Lombard’s judo background it will be nearly impossible. Lombard by second-round TKO.

Takanori “The Fireball Kid” Gomi(34-8-0-1) vs. Diego “The Nightmare” Sanchez(23-5-0)

Sanchez was good at welterweight, but he was great at 155. Even though he only had three fights in the lightweight division, he went 2-1 and earned two Fight of the Night bonuses as well as a shot at the title. Gomi will have the knockout power to finish Sanchez, but the problem is that Sanchez has never been finished and only been stopped on cuts. Sanchez will win this fight, because even if he is hurt on the feet he will take it to the ground. At this point he is still in his prime, and will only look better when he is not out-muscled at 155. Sanchez by second-round TKO.
