If you stop and think about it, Chris Weidman had an amazing run in the UFC. He was a dominant badass, taking out dudes left and right, and when he faced the unstoppable Anderson Silva, he didn’t just stop the feared Brazilian, he effectively ended his career as elite athlete.
But Weidman fell off the mountain himself. First came the loss of the belt to Luke Rockhold, then Yoel Romero wrecked him, and finally, Gegard Mousasi (with the help of the New York State Athletic Commission) messed him up. Three losses in a row… that’s a lot, especially for someone who used to be champ.
On Saturday, Weidman faces Kelvin Gastelum in the main event of UFC on FOX 25, which takes place at Nassau Coliseum. Will this be the fight where Weidman finally bounces back?
