If all goes as planned, the upcoming UFC on FOX 19 card is sure to be a good one.
Officials confirmed many of the fights recently, including the main event between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. The card takes place April 16 from the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.
Nurmagomedov (22-0) will return from an extended break due to injuries against Ferguson (20-3) in a title-eliminator at 155 pounds.
In the co-main event, former UFC light heavyweight champions Rashad Evans and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua square off, while Lyoto Machida-Dan Henderson and Rose Namajunas-Tecia Torres complete the main card.
It will have been two years since we last saw Nurmagomedov in action. He scored a victory over current UFC champion Rafael dos Anjos that April, but will be tested against Ferguson, a former Ultimate Fighter winner who has won seven in a row.
Evans and Rua were once set to square off for the title, but an injury knocked Evans out and opened the door for then-teammate Jon Jones to challenge Rua. That was in 2011 and the two veterans have been on a collision course ever since.
Machida and Henderson are coming off losses and will be meeting in a rematch of a 2013 bout won by “The Dragon.” Namajunas is on a two-fight win streak, while Torres is unbeaten in her MMA career.
The prelims will feature Michael Chiesa-Beneil Dariush, Bethe Correia-Raquel Pennington and Hacran Dias-Cub Swanson.
