Nate Marquardt had his day – in the UFC, in Strikeforce, in Pancrase – so the man that enters into the cage tonight is one with quite a bit of wear and tear. CB Dollaway, on the other hand, has been coming into his own lately, and despite a recent loss to Lyoto Machida, has shown a bit of upside (upside he might not want to risk).
Sadly, all that backstory translates into a ton of tentativeness, which, in the first round has them dancing around waiting for that one big opening. Dolloway does land a punch that stumbles Marquardt, and Marquardt does manage to land some judicious kicks to the body, but it’s either man’s game to win or lose on a mistake.
That mistake comes in Round 2. After tagging Marquardt with a couple fists, Dollaway pursues with his hands down… and Marquardt lands a right square on the chin that puts Dollaway down and out.
Marquardt still has some left in him after all.
Result: Nate Marquardt def. CB Dollaway via KO (Punch) at :28, R2
