UFC on Fox 3 has delivered.
In the past many complained of lackluster performances on the Fox cards. This time around, it’s hard to make a case for any fight not having its entertaining moments.
Last nights fight bonuses handed out by the UFC were a hefty $65,000 each. Lavar Johnson blasted away on Pat Barry after being held down in the middle of the round. After the win, Johnson pleaded his case for the bonus, and ended up earning the ‘Knockout of the Night‘ over Alan Belcher finish of Rousimar Palhares. Not only did Johnson take home an extra $65,000, but has also put the division on notice that there is another dangerous KO artist to watch out for.
Not much of a surprise that the ‘Submission of the Night‘ honors went to headliner Nate Diaz, for being the first to submit the tough-as-nails, Jim Miller. Not only did he dominate the ground game against a fellow BJJ blackbelt, but also beat Miller in the stand up, with his snapping pace. Diaz not only pocketed the extra coin, but has also been rewarded a title shot for his emphatic win. He will now wait out a rematch between Frankie Edgar and Benson Henderson, expected to take place in Sept.
‘Fight of the Night‘ went to Louis Gaudinot and John Lineker. From the start of this match, these two men went all out. The bout reminded us that the lighter fighters are just as exciting as the heavyweights in their own way. As stated during the fight by the commentators, ‘you wouldn’t see the heavyweight fighters move like these two’. Louis may have been able to pull off the comeback submission victory, but both men won the desired fight bonus for their entertaining efforts.
