Sam Stout picked Cody McKenzie apart tonight at UFC on Fox 9 tonight in Sacramento, California, earning a unanimous decision after three rounds.
Ontario’s “Hands of Stone” Stout evaded almost every takedown from McKenzie, of Washington State, and landed consistently with punches and kicks. His kicks to the body were particularly accurate and seemed to slow McKenzie down the stretch. McKenzie attacked with a guillotine in the first round and a leg lock at the end of the third, but was mostly unable to counter Stout’s Muay Thai offense.
The crowd became restless by some tepid action as the bout concluded. Stout has received “Fight of the Night” bonus six times, and McKenzie once — but such honors are unlikely to be had here.
Stout earns his ninth UFC victory with the win and advances to 20-9-1 overall. McKenzie falls to 14-4 with the loss.
At UFC on Fox 9, Sam Stout defeated Cody McKenzie by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).
