UFC Fight Night Brown vs. Silva’s fourth bout boasted the night’s first highlight-worthy finish, as Darren Cruickshank stopped Erik Koch with a head kick followed by elbow strikes to earn a round one TKO victory.
Koch was one of the night’s biggest betting favorites at almost five to one, but he was on his back heel from the opening bell of the lightweight encounter, as Detroit’s Cruickshank used his variety of kicks, along with the occasional straight punch, to take the early advantage.
Cruickshank would miss a high round kick, but land a follow up left head kick, to stun Koch and send him to the mat. Elbows to the head ended the night for the Iowa native Koch, who now fights out of Wisconsin with Duke Roufus’ camp.
Koch falls to 14-4 with the loss. Cruickshank improves to 15-4 with the victory.
At UFC Fight Night: Brown vs. Silva, Daron Cruickshank defeats Erik Koch by TKO (elbows) at 3:21 of round one.
