The “main event” of the prelims has the ultra-experienced Mike Pyle taking on Alberto Mina. In case you’ve forgotten, Pyle’s powers reside in his mullet – can Mina deal with the nigh-unstoppable hairstyle?
It’s a full minute of circling and gauging distance before either man commits to something, and in comes in the form of Mina flurrying and Pyle stepping out of the way. A minute later Mina gets the takedown and lands in his foe’s guard, but inactivity has the ref eventualy standing them up – which gives Mina a chance to stun him with a right hand and rain down punches when Pyle falls to his back. When they’re on their feet again Mina goes for and lands another takedown, and the horn sounds with Pyle going for a guillotine.
Things don’t last long in the second, as Mina and Pyle square up and Mina leaps into a flying knee that sends Pyle to the canvas utterly senseless.
Result: Alberto Mina def. Mike Pyle via TKO (Flying Knee) at 1:17, R2
