The “main event” if the Fight Pass prelims has speed demon Kyoji Horiguchi facing Irish banger Neil Seery.
It takes all of 20 seconds for the Japanese karate fighter dropping Seery with a knuckle sandwich to the head. The Irishman is stunned for just a few moments, but when he gets back to his feet he thinks it’s okay to eat a punch to land a punch – an unfavorable equation that has Horiguchi cracking him again and again (and even dropping him ). He takes Seery down and batters him from side-control for a spell, and the horn sounds with Seery lumbering forward and Horiguchi flying in and out and blasting him.
No one has ever questioned Seery’s heart, but it’s clear that heart isn’t enough once Horiguchi blitzes him in the beginning of the second round with strikes, then takes him down. Soon Seery is a bloody mess, and while he manages to land a punch about once in every three exchanges, Horiguchi is landing everything – kicks, punches, takedowns – everything.
They slow a bit in the third, but Horiguchi never stops beating the ever-lovin’ crap out of Seery and Seery never stops coming forward. Seery lands a couple counter-lefts right on the money, and even nails a takedown late, but man, it’s all about Horiguchi testing the limits on how much damage the Irishman can take.
Result: Kyoji Horiguchi vs. Neil Seery via Unanimous Decision
