It’s main event time, and since it’s Alistair Overeem and Andrei Arlovski, what really needs to be said?
Arlovski takes the center of the cage and begins cutting Overeem’s escape routes off. This enables him to swarms the Dutchman, unloading with a plethora of punches to the head and body while Overeem covers up and absorbs them. After the flurries things slow to a more measured pace, and Overeem begins to chip away with kicks from the outside. With a minute left in the round Overeem lands an outside trip and throws the Belarussian to the canvas, and from within Arlovski’s guard he sneaks in a couple of punches in his ground and pound.
It doesn’t take long for things to come to a close in the second round. Overeem executes a jumping scissor kick that lands on his opponent and sends him crashing to the canvas, and the Dutchman follows him down and pounds away, prompting the referee to jump in.
Result: Alistair Overeem def. Andrei Arlovski via TKO (Punches) at 1:12, R2
