Sure, Anderson Silva-Michael Bisping is receiving all the press and headlines this week leading up to Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 84 card.
And rightfully so.
However, there are plenty of interesting matches set to take place from London on UFC Fight Pass.
Gegard Mousasi tries to bounce back against Thales Leites in the co-main event. Tom Breese, an up-and-coming prospect, takes on Keita Nakaumura. Mike Wilkinson and Makwan Amirkhani are all sorts of interesting in the featherweight ranks.
But the sleeper “Fight of the Night” candidate is Norman Parke vs. Rustam Khabilov.
Parke, a 29-year-old former Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes winner, will be fighting out of Ireland and looking to put together his first win streak in two years.
Upon besting Colin Fletcher and winning his TUF title, Parke went on a 4-0-1 run inside the Octagon. That all stopped in 2015 when Gleison Tibau and Francisco Trinaldo soured the youngster with back-to-back split decisions.
Parke didn’t get down, though, bouncing back in late 2015 with a decision over veteran Reza Madadi.
Surprisingly enough, none of his bouts have earned a “fight-night” bonus yet.
Khabilov (17-3) is in dire need of a win – and that means a hungry fighter.
Following wins in 17 of his first 18 pro bouts, including three straight with the UFC, Khabilov is on a two-fight losing streak. He suffered a submission loss to former champion Benson Henderson two years ago and was also on the wrong end of a split decision to Adriano Martins in 2015.
So, there you have it. What is your prediction for FOTN?
