If you want a good storyline going into this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 70, it’s the fact that the card was originally supposed to happen in Brazil, was switched to Florida a month ago, and an issue with the US Consul’s computers made it impossible for a bunch of the Brazilian fighters slated for the card to get into the United States. That killed a TUF Brasil 4 finale bout, as well as a main event that was supposed to feature Erick Silva vs. Rick Story. But hey, the UFC is nothing if not industrious, so the marquee bout will instead see Lyoto Machida taking on Yoel Romero.
Which isn’t a bad match-up at all, I’d say.
What you need to know about Romero is that he repped Cuba in the Olympics for wrestling, won the silver medal, is somewhat old but has been kicking ass in the Octagon nonetheless, and Machida will probably kill him.
