His reign as UFC lightweight champ may have lasted only a year and a half, but there’s no denying that Benson Henderson is a badass. He is – as evidenced by his wins over the elite of the division in Josh Thomson, Nate Diaz, Donald Cerrone and Gilbert Melendez. And while Henderson’s arch-nemesis Anthony Pettis is currently in possession of the belt, it’s safe to assume “Smooth” will eventually make it to the front of the challenger line. He is simply that good.
On Saturday, the former champ will headline UFC Fight Night 42 opposite up-and-coming fighter Rustam Khabilov, and while the Dagestani killer is extremely adapt at wrecking people, the night will likely present Henderson with the perfect opportunity to showcase the skills that earned him UFC gold in the past.
And what skills are those? Watch the video below – which features Henderson taking on then-champ Frankie Edgar for the belt – and see for yourself.
