Hey, remember what I said about having to watch your old heroes fight each other? Yeah, it holds true yet again, this time for the UFC Fight Night 120 co-main event pitting ancient Diego Sanchez against on-the-cusp-of-retiring Matt Brown.
You know and love Sanchez for his role as TUF pioneer, and his frenetic, balls-out style. You know and love Brown for his stint of TUF as well, and his similar – yet more technical – style.
And for over three minutes, these dudes were competitive in their sprint towards destruction, with Sanchez in Brown’s face mixing wild punches with takedown attempts, and Brown stuffing him and trying to take his head off with kicks and punches. Sanchez even got in a few good licks, because he’s a wild man and his punches will come from anywhere at anytime.
But then Brown caught a kick, forced Sanchez to the fence, and come over the top with a hellacious elbow, and, well… Sanchez probably doesn’t remember what he did on Saturday night, and won’t ever.
Results: Matt Brown def. Diego Sanchez via KO (Elbow) at 3:44, R1
