Whenever a high-level kickboxer enter into MMA, it’s usually through Bellator, and it’s a freakshow fight designed for ratings. But Gokhan Saki took a fight on the UFC Fight Night 117 card, and his opponent was the somewhat legit Henrique da Silva.
Da Silva has always been willing to eat strikes just to land them, so there’s little tentativeness when these two engage. Saki drops Da Silva with a left early on, so thereafter the Brazilian keeps those takedown attempts ready. Saki dodges them, and fires away with hooks, kicks and whatever else he fancies, and Da Silva almost withers. He survives, though, and fires off knees and an elbow that could be the gamechanger… but then Saki puts him out with left from hell, and that’s it.
