In 18 appearances in the Octagon, we’ve pretty much seen all there is to see with Dutch behemoth Stefan Struve in terms of potential. He’s good, sometimes among the elite, but he’ll never be the champ. Which is fine. Not everyone should have a shiny belt around their waist.
And certainly not everyone should make us worry about whether their congenital heart defect will cause them to suddenly keel over, which has proven to be an issue with Struve as well. So maybe it’s very much fine that he headline these local Fight Nights and swim in the smaller ponds of talent in lieu and literally dying on the pay-per-view events.
This weekend Strufe takes on Alexander Volkov at UFC Fight Night 115. Volkov was a top heavyweight in Bellator, which is akin to be a top player of darts at the tavern down on the corner, so Strufe should do okay.
