UFC Fight Night 111 Results: Ulka Sasaki Stages Amazing Comeback

Greetings, friends, and welcome to CagedInsider’s liveblog coverage of UFC Fight Night 111, a Fight Pass event coming to us from Singapore, so yes, we’re are watching this damn thing early Saturday morning.

The main event has Holly Holm taking on Bethe Correia in a “please don’t fire me” bout, the co-main event has Andrei Arlovski against Marcin Tybura in a “I can’t believe I’m still getting fights” bout, and on the main card Rafael dos Anjos is facing Tarec Saffiedine in a “God, I wish I fought Conor” bout.

Here’s Ulka Sasaki and Justin Scoggins to get the ball rolling.

Scoggins has been all over the place in terms of who he’s fought and beaten and lost to – he’s lost to John Moraga but beaten Ray Borg, so I guess that means we see flashes of brilliance between suckness.

Sasaki was a Shooto vet when he came into the Octagon, but he’s lost more times since he’s won.

Round 1 opens with Scoggins immediately suplexing Sasaki into the canvas like he hates him. They scramble, with Sasaki feigning going for subs and Scoggins being forced to react, and when they’re up and banging, Scoggins is the one landing. Sasaki eats a punch that sends him down, and the round ends with the American on top.

The second sees Scoggins just utterly wrecking the Japanese fighter, nailing him with everything from spinning kicks to punches, and when Sasaki tumbles to the canvas the onslaught continues. But somehow Sasaki scrambles into mount and then back-mount, and soon Scoggins is tapping to a rear naked choke.

Geez, what a comeback.

Results: Ulka Sasaki def. Justin Scoggins via Submission (Rear Naked Choke) at 3:19, R2
