UFC Fight Night 110 Results: Dan Hooker Knocks Out Ross Pearson

As a local boy, you can bet Dan Hooker was going to be on this card, regardless of his mottled record. Ross Pearson too, because though the TUF winner of yore has seen better days, he’s still got some vinegar left in him (plus, he coached a season of TUF down around those parts, so the crowd should recognize him as well).

Given his lankiness and reach with his legs, of course Hooker comes out throwing kicks – of course – and of course Pearson answers with boxing. This is what these guys always do. But the aging Pearson isn’t as sharp as he used to be, so his scoring with his fists is tempered by the kicks coming and landing from all angles. Hooker goes for a takedown late in Round 1, but his leg-kicks have done all the damage, so he likely takes the round.

The second frame has Pearson moving well and sticking those fists out there, and soon he’s knocking his opponent’s head back and bloodying Hooker’s nose. Hooker responds by boxing, which seems to encourage Pearson’s usual slipping of punches – except when he ducks down Hooker blasts him with a knee to the dome that utterly destroys him. Pearson is out.

Where did all this violence come from?
