He took out Ross Pearson and Joe Lauzon, and then narrowly edged past Jorge Masvidal. But just as he was on the cusp of breaking into the elite of the division, Al Iaquinta said screw it all (he didn’t like the terms of his contract) and announced his retirement.
It was a bit shocking, as the Long Islander had built up some decent momentum, but what can you do? He was sick of getting punched in the face for a living, and selling real estate seemed like a better option.
And now he’s back! And taking on Diego Sanchez in the co-main even of UFC Fight Night 108 this weekend! Hooray!
