Welcome to CagedInsider’s liveblog coverage of UFC Fight Night 106, an event taking place in Brazil, for the Brazilians and about the Brazilians. In the main event, we’ve got expert chemist Vitor Belfort taking on TUF winner Kelvin Gastelum, so be prepared for something high-flying and spectacular.
First up: the prelim bout between veteran Josh Burkman and Michel Prazeres.
Burkman has been around since the early years of TUF, and you have to wonder how much more competitive ability he has for the Octagon. Well, wonder no more! In the opening seconds, Prazeres starts firing off bombs, and clips Burkman, putting the American on roller skates. More punches land, and Burkman is losing brain cells like crazy. Then it goes to the ground, where Prazeres changes tactics and slaps on a choke while in north/south position. Burkman resists at first, but soon he taps.
Results: Michel Prazeres def. Josh Burkman via Submission (North/South Choke) at 1:42, R1
