During a press conference today for this weekend’s upcoming UFC 111, Dana White told the crowd of fans and press that the UFC would be returning to Dublin, Ireland at the end of 2010.
White stated,”We’re going back to Dublin this year for sure.” But he didn’t give any specifics on UFC’s show in Ireland.
Last year was the UFC’s first trip to The Republic Ireland for UFC 93, where almost 10,000 fans packed “The 02”. The evening’s main event featured a split decision win for Dan Henderson over Rich Franklin.
In the early summer of 2007, the UFC visited Belfast, which is Northern Ireland’s biggest city for UFC 72. Only around 8,000 fans showed up for this event, but the event was still charged with energy. Rich Franklin was on this main card as well, where he won over Yushin Okami by split decision.
Of course most every city would like to host a UFC event and White made sure to tell fans “We’re coming everywhere.”
So Irish fans can do a little jig (I’m Irish too..don’t get offended) and the rest of you fans can wait to see when the UFC will be visiting you!
