Paulo Borrachinha is a local boy who earned a TKO in his last UFC outing (his first Octagon appearance); Oluwale Bamgbose is 1-2 in the UFC, but his striking is explosive and can elicit a knockout seemingly from nowhere. These two got into it at the weigh-ins, so let’s see if that heat translates into some crowd-pleasing violence.
Bamgbose has a gas tank that can hold two minutes worth of fury, so he makes the most of it, taking his opponent down and, when Borrachinha immediately gets back up, pegs him with fists. But once that two minutes is up, it’s the Brazilian’s turn to dish out the pain – which he does with flurries and kicks to the body. Bamgbose manages to score a double-leg and hold him there until the bell, but yikes, this dude is in trouble.
Round 2 opens with Bamgbose huffing and puffing and trying to throw some fire. Too bad he flubs a kick, loses his balances and falls to his back, and is subject to a rain of punches from above by Borrachinha. Referee John McCarthy has to jump in to save his life.
