There was a time when Brad Pickett was one of the best “little guys” coming out of the UK. Of course, losing three out of his last four fights is a strong indication that that time has since passed, but whatever, he’s a banger. On the other side of the coin is Iuri Alcantara, who’s fallen to some of the best in the division (Urijah Faber, Jimmie Rivera), but who handles everyone else. Which column does Pickett belong in?
It’s a bad sign when Pickett – usually a striker – starts getting smoked by the Brazilian on the feet, but that’s just what happens early on, with the Brit getting dropped by Alcantara’s fury. Pickett gathers his wits; however, they’re now on the ground, and Alcantara starts rattling off submission attempts. Pickett fends off the armbar. The triangle, though. That’s what catches him.
