The lineup for UFC 186, scheduled for April 25 in Montreal, has been finalized — and you might call it something old, something new; plus someone “borrowed” too.
The event’s headliner is the second bout between UFC Bantamweight Champion TJ Dillashaw against Renan Barão.
Dillashaw defeated Barão for the title last May at UFC 173 in one of the year’s biggest upsets. Barão was regarded one of the sport’s pound-for-pound elite at the time; enjoying an unbeaten run of 31 fights.
The two were supposed to have an immediate rematch in August at UFC 177. But the bout was scratched when Barão was hospitalized the day prior to the bout, and instead, Dillashaw earned a knockout victory against late replacement Joe Soto. Barão would return to the Octagon last December, defeating Mitch Gagnon at UFC Fight Night event in Brazil.
Dillashaw is 11-2 as a professional. Barão is 33-2-1.
Acting as co-main event is Demetrious Johnson’s flyweight title defense against Kyoji Horiguchi. The bout will be the first five-round UFC bout for the former Shooto champ Horiguchi.
UFC 186 will feature the return of Quinton “Rampage” Jackson as well, following a stint at Bellator MMA. Jackson will face Brazilian slugger Fabio Maldanado.
