Gabriel “Napão” Gonzaga won his second straight T/KO tonight at UFC 166 in Houston, blasting Shawn Jordan with a counter right hand and following up with hammer-fists to earn the victory.
The bout began with both fighters darting in and out looking for openings. Then, Jordan, who entered the cage a (-175) favorite, landed a jab to Gonzaga’s face, and was looking to follow up when Gonzaga’s crisp counter found its mark.
Gonzaga followed up with punches on the mat, until the bout was mercifully halted at 1:33 of the first round.
The loss snaps a two fight winning streak for Jordan — including “Knockout of the Night” honors in his last bout, a round one KO of Pat Barry in June.
