UFC 165 has 13 bouts scheduled for the September 21st card, as Alex Caceres has been booked for a bout with fellow TUF vet Roland Delorme, which will go down in Toronto’s Air Canada Centre.
The fight, which is being reported by multiple outlets as well as Delorme via Twitter, will likely take place during the preliminary, Facebook stream, portion of the card.
Caceres, or “Bruce Leeroy” as he’s widely called (which could be runner up to “The Korean Zombie” as MMA’s best nickname), will be returning from suspension after he tested positive for marijuana this past March. “Leeroy” (8-5) worked his way to a split decision win over Kyung Ho Kang at UFC on FUEL TV 8, but the bout was overturned to a no contest as a result of his failed test. The 25 year old bantamweight, who competed on the 12th Season of TUF, had won back-to-back bouts prior to the fight.
Delorme (9-1) has gone 3-0 with 1 no contest since competing on TUF 4. Most recently the bantamweight worked his way to a UD win over Edwin Figueroa at UFC 161 in his hometown of Winnipeg. Before that, the 29 year-old was stopped by Francisco Rivera at UFC 149 last July, but Rivera failed his post fight drug test and the fight was declared a no contest. Delorme has also scored wins over Nick Denis and Josh Ferguson in the Octagon.
So, that’s an interesting bantamweight tilt, which could feature some pretty interesting grappling exchanges. UFC 165 is one stacked card, as light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones will take on Alexander Gustafsson and interim bantamweight champ Renan Barao will throw down with Eddie Wineland.
