UFC 149: Big Nog out against Kongo, replacement found

The UFC and its fans can’t catch a break, as yet another headline bout has been changed on UFC 149 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The arm of Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (33-71 MMA, 10-5-1) has not fully healed as originally expected, causing the former interim champ to resign from his bout against Cheick Kongo (17-7-2 MMA, 10-5-1 UFC). Stepping in to help co-headline the bout is Strikeforce import, Shawn Jordan.

Former LSU football player, Jordan will be making his second UFC appearance after pulling the TKO (knee) victory over Oli Thompson at UFC on FX in March. The Team Jackson heavyweight also carries a recent victory over  knockout artist, Lavar Johnson.

Kongo will be looking to start a new win streak after losing his last bout to Mark Hunt at UFC 144. The bout put an end to a four-fight unbeaten string over top opponents that had the Frenchmen eying contender-ship.

Here’s the full card as it stands now.
